5 Best Home Treatments To Keep Your Nails

Everyone strives to have beautiful nails, but brittle nails can spoil the beauty. Weak and brittle nails that can easily become cracked or chipped are a common problem affecting both men and women. There are three main factors that cause brittle nails aging, long-term use of nail polish and frequent exposure to water.

Nails are made of the same protein, called keratin, as that of hair. Fingernails grow faster than toenails, although growth is still very slow. On average, fingernails grow about one-tenth of an inch each month. But sometimes they grow even slower.          
             
Good diet

Fragile nails can be caused by iron deficiencies. Foodstuffs abundant in iron include liver, trim red meats, species of fish, soy products, beans, lentils, whole grain products, green spinach, fresh vegetables, asparagus, parsley, poultry along with turkey, nuts, egg yolks, dry fruits like raisins, dates and apricots, etc. Eat a lot of these to help keep your nails healthy.

Caring For Cuticles

Soak your fingertips for 15 minutes in a bowl of warm water after adding 1 tbsp. of sea salt in it. Wipe your fingers and apply moisturizer or petroleum jelly. Repeating this process for a week every month will make your nails healthy and strong. Use this process for your toe nails also.

Vegetable Oils

If your nails are frequently exposed to water, try this simple remedy. Apply any vegetable oil on the top and inside of the nails with the help of a cotton ball or a brush and massage the nails gently for 5-6 minutes every day, three to four times a day.

Lemon Juice And Olive Oil

Mix few drops of lemon juice in 1 tsp of olive oil and apply this mixture on your nails everyday to turn brittle and chipped nails into strong and healthy nails. Massage this mixture gently on your nails before going to bed and leave overnight after wearing a soft manicure gloves to let the mixture work.

Sea Salt
