Best Natural Sunscreen Recipe

Summers play havoc with the skin with the sun blazing at its maximum and the sun rays cause damage to the elasticity of the skin. These rays absorb the natural oil and the moisture of the skin making it dry and loose the glow. Sunscreen lotions are the best solutions to such problems but it will be better if these lotions are prepared at home and not purchased from the market. The commercially available sunscreen lotions contain the harmful chemicals and toxins which are harmful to all the skin types despite the benefits that they promise to deliver from the sun rays.
This post narrates the best procedure to prepare the sunscreen lotion recipe at your home to get the maximum protection from the harmful ultraviolet and other radiations dissipated by the sun without causing any chemical discomfort and harm to the skin.

Recipe I: Green Tea sunscreen

Materials
  • Green tea leaves
  • Sesame oil
  • Beeswax
  • powdered benzoin
  • aloe Vera gel
  • Double boiler
  • electric blender
  • rubber spatula
  • 4-ounce wide-mouthed jar.
Procedure
Green tea infusion
Pour half a cup of boiling water over 2 tablespoons of green tea leaves, cover and allow to precipitate for 30 minutes. If using green tea bags, tear one open and measure out 2 tablespoons of the leaves to use in the infusion. Strain the liquid from the plant material and set aside, discarding the spent leaves.
Other solution
Place 1/3 cup sesame oil, one tbsp. chopped or grated beeswax and approximately 1/8 tsp. powdered benzoin in the top of a double boiler. Fill the bottom of the boiler about halfway with water. Place over medium-low heat until the beeswax is melted and the mixture is heated through. Remove from the heat and set aside.
Mixing the two solutions
Measure out 1/3 cup of the green tea infusion and discard the remainder. Pour into an electric blender container, and then add three tsp. aloe vera gel. Wait until the oil mixture has thickened and cooled to room temperature, and then add to the blender. Turn the blender onto high speed and process until it begins to sputter. Turn off the blender and stir the ingredients with a rubber spatula to remove from the sides of the container. Blend again, and continue until a smooth and creamy texture is achieved. Pour the natural sunscreen into a wide-mouthed jar, label with the contents and store in a cool, dry place.
Use
To use, cover your skin thoroughly with the sunscreen about 30 minutes before you’ll be exposed to the sun. Reapply frequently, especially after sweating or swimming. This natural sunscreen is not waterproof. It will offer a significant amount of protection without the use of irritating chemicals.

Recipe II

Melt the sesame oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, and almond or walnut oil in a double boiler along with the butters and beeswax over medium heat.
Stir in the soya-lecithin to blend and remove from the heat.
Take the aloe vera gel and rose or lavender water in a pan and gently warm. Add the borax power and stir to dissolve. Remove from the heat.
When still warm set the pan into a bowl of ice. Then drizzle the melted oil while mixing rapidly till a cream forms.
Now add the carrot seed essential oil and the coconut fragrance oil and blend.
Store the contents in an airtight jar and refrigerate.

  1. Thanks for sharing this! I have been using what I think is the best natural sunscreen for me. I have been using it for a couple weekends and I very much prefer it over the potential harmful chemicals of other sprays. I hope the weather holds up this weekend so I can get some more sun!
